Something handy, but read this before you buy it.. January 5, 2009 Mehul This little gizmo from Accutire is approx 3.5" wide & 1.2" tall. Just perfect in proportion, its better to mention the size before you buy it. I got it shipped for free. Now, when it comes down to the real purpose of checking air pressure, I say its a little tricky in doing so. Reason is, the nozzle. Whenever I tried checking my vehicles air pressure, quite an amount of air escapes as it tries to read it. It gives a near to accurate reading which is the case with most gauges, but the let down is you end up losing atleast 3-4psi of air! whenever i checked my bikes air I had to repump in the lost air! So, next time one may have to over inflate the tire to get the right pressure back. The problem is the narrow nozzle which allows air to escape & is the sole reason why am not completely satisfied with this product. I thought it will come in real handy but the fear of riding on under-inflated tires keeps me away from using it most of the time. Again, the air escapes quite a bit which shouldnt be the case! Summing it up otherwise, its a neat & handy device to own. The construction is rugged. I want Accutire to rectify the nozzle n air escape problem which will then make this thing a great buy. So overall satisfaction..3/5 & value for money, 2.5/5. I will recommend it though, just because of its sheer handiness & compact size. When in case of emergency, it serves the purpose really well, which is why am glad to have it. Plus, no need to replace the batteries as it comes fitted with a permanent lithium cell.
Save energy November 30, 2008 D. Poland (NJ) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Barack Obama suggested we maintain tire pressure to get better gas mileage and save energy. This device is accurate, easy to use and takes little space in the glove box.
Worked so well I had to get another one November 29, 2008 Carol (Chatsworth, CA United States) I was trying to put air in my tires at a gas station near my home but was having difficulty. Happens that the rep from the company that supplies the air machine was near by and saw me struggling. He came to help and realized the hose was bad, so he replaced it. He filled my tires for me and used my digital tire gauge to check the pressure. He was so impressed with this little gadget I had to give it to him... hence I had to buy myself a new one. I find it easy to use. I never let more than a very little air out of the tire when I'm putting it on. Once it's on, it seals pretty well and there shouldn't be anymore air loss. It reaches the tire pressure quickly and it's easy to read while still on the tire. I purchased several for gifts. The old fashion type is good, but I can never seem to find it when I need it. I hang this in my car and it's always right where I can find it.
Not as good as I had hoped for November 10, 2008 Meme (Vermont) It's hard to check your tires with this without letting air out of your tires. I will be buying a much better one that hopefully will be easier to check the air in the tires without letting air out. Even for the low price I wouldn't recommend this one.
Cheap, accurate, you'll need a new one in a year. October 30, 2008 Aaron Reitz 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this at a brick-and-mortar store for pretty much this price. I was surprised at how accurate it was considering the price. It does require some coordination to get it sealed properly, but it's not that difficult. The main problem that spurred me to give this review is the fact that I tried to use it yesterday after several months without touching it and got a low battery indicator. I haven't even had it for a year, and only used it a few times! From what I remember, the packaging (long thrown-away) says the battery is not user-replaceable. I'd rather get something a bit more expensive but that will last.
